Actors - Ko Soo

Ko Soo (born October 4, 1978) is a Korean television and movie actor.

Biography

Ko Soo was born in Choong Nam Noon San, South Korea and has one brother. He was educated at Sang Myung University, where he studied acting.

After high school graduation but before attending university, Ko Soo travelled to Seoul to find his fortune and, in 1998, appeared as an extra in a music video, the band Position’s "Last Promise". He made his first step onto television in 1999, where his handsome appearance and cute smile reminded the audience of Cho Hyeon Jae
and Ji Sung
. He also drew critical praise: when he appeared in the drama series Piano in 2001, one review described him as an "actor with precision".

Ko had his first movie hit in 2004 as a drug crime officer in Some: the first film in which he performed his own stunts. In 2005, he starred in action-packed TV series Green Rose, playing a simple man who fell in love with a rich woman and was accused of a crime he didn’t commit. Green Rose was shot in both China and South Korea.

In 2005, Ko was awarded the New Star Award at the 42nd Daejong Festival.

His new project in late 2005 is a drama-comedy Marry A Millionaire, where he plays a delivery man who was asked by a TV producer to act like a rich man to attract several women by his handsome looks.

Trivia

  • Of all the dramas he worked with, they are all produced by his mother station, SBS. After his first SBS drama Piano, the staff was praised by his good acting, which made him sign an exclusive contract with that TV station.
  • Ko Soo has been known by his cute smile and handsome appearance that reminds him of Cho Hyeon Jae and Ji Sung, both had been the co-stars of Song Hye Kyo
, who also appeared in a number of music videos like him. Since Cho, Ji, Ko, and Song have many dramas in SBS, there may come an expectation that Ko will work in a drama with either Cho or Ji and will play as biological brothers of Ko’s character. Same expectation to Song and Ko to work together in a drama and play as lovers.
  • Ko’s characters in his dramas When A Man Loves A Woman and Green Rose are weird because his characters lost his mother on the first half of those dramas. Did those writers give these for him, is it because he is closer to his father in real life? His real-life mother is the one who gave a cross necklace, which is his most memorable gift.
