Kwame Kwei-Armah (born 1967) is a black British actor, singer and playwright.

Born Ian Roberts in Hillingdon, London, he changed his name after tracing his family history, through the slave trade back to his African roots.

He first achieved fame playing the paramedic Finlay Newton in the BBC drama series Casualty from 1999 to 2004. His fifth play, Elmina's Kitchen premiered in May 2003 at the National Theatre, and was shortlisted in the "best new play" category at the 2004 Laurence Olivier Theatre Awards. Kwame also received The Evening Standard Award for the Most Promising New Playwright of 2003.

In 2003 he appeared in a charity celebrity version of the talent show Fame Academy and subsequently released a successful album, Kwame.
