Acting career

Zimmer had a brief acting career during the mid-to-late 1970's. After playing the female lead opposite Darwin Joston and Austin Stoker in Assault on Precinct 13, Zimmer appeared (as Laura Fanning) in the 1977 French film Une sale histoire ("A Dirty Story"). However, after playing her third role (in a 1979 made-for-television movie called The Survival of Dana), Zimmer permanently retired from acting.

In 2003, French filmmaker Charlotte Szlovak, who had worked with Zimmer on Une sale histoire, released her documentary film, Do You Remember Laurie Zimmer?. The film chronicles Szlovak's search to discover why Zimmer quit acting, where she is now, and what she is doing.
