| Leah Bracknell (born July 12, 1964) is a British character actress who played the role of vet and land owner, Zoe Tate, in popular ITV1 soap opera, Emmerdale (originally Emmerdale Farm) for 16 years (with breaks, including two spells of maternity leave) until leaving the serial in 2005. She is the mother of two daughters, Lily and Maya, with her theatre critic husband, Lyle Watson. She is also the daughter of film director David Bracknell. The Zoe Tate character was the first lesbian on a British soap and is one of the longest-featured gay characters on television.
