Linda Bove plays the part of Linda on the children's television program Sesame Street. Both Linda the character and Ms. Bove are deaf. She was born deaf on November 30, 1945 and grew up in Garfield, New Jersey. On Sesame Street, Linda has introduced thousands of children to sign language and issues surrounding the deaf community. Her role as Linda on "Sesame Street" is currently the longest recurring role in television history for a disabled person.

Bove also appeared in one episode of Happy Days as a girlfriend of The Fonz. In this role she also portrayed a deaf woman.

Linda Bove is the founding member of the National Theater of the Deaf in 1963. She also received an award in 1974 from AMITA – The Italian American Aware for her work on television.

She has been married to Ed Waterstreet since 1970.
