Lisa Riley is a former female presenter and actress on UK television. She is famous for her attractiveness, despite criticisms from the media of being 'obese'. As such, Riley became an ardent public defender of women's rights to be attractive without having to resort to being extremely thin, such as a stereotypical model.

Lisa was born in Burnley, Lancashire, to parents Cath and Terry. Her nickname is Ermintrude. She trained at the Oldham Theatre Workshop from the age of 9, and was signed by an agent 3 years later.

Her first breakthrough role in the UK television world was playing the character Mandy Dingle in the television series, Emmerdale. The role was incredibly popular and launched her stature to international status. The character appeared for a few years in the soap before she left the character behind in 1998. Due to the popularity of the character, Riley has agreed to appear as Mandy Dingle on a couple of occasions since she character left regular appearances, but despite rumours and showbiz gossip that the character will one day return to the soap, no such event has occurred.

Riley went on then to present the popular You've Been Framed show, taking over from the former presenter, Jeremy Beadle. She brought a sassiness and natural sense of humour to the show, a breath of fresh air carrying through the production. However, Riley eventually moved onto other things and left during late 2002, after the show had been drafted to an afternoon slot with declining ratings.

Riley also had a role in Fat Friends.

Riley has also tried her acting chops in various pantomime / stage performances, to critical acclaim.
