| Liu Xiao Ling Tong(六小龄童 in Chinese) is the stage name of Zhang Jinlai (章金莱), a famous Chinese actor. His family is one of the two families which has the most Peking Opera players specialized in performing Sun Wukong, the Monkey King in Journey to the West. The other is the family of Li Wanchun 李万春. Zhang Jinlai's great grandfather was an opera player, mostly performing in the countryside of Zhejiang province of China, with a stage name "Sai Huo Hou", or "Better Than a Living Monkey". His grand father moved to Shanghai, and trained two sons. Zhang Jinlai's father was a famous Peking Opera player with stage name Liu Ling Tong, which means "Six Years Old Kid", because that he gained his reputation when he was six years old. His specialty was Sun Wukong, and gained a nickname "Monkey King of the South", while Li Wanchun dominated Northern China. Zhang Jinlai's uncle, specialized on Zhu Bajie, had a stage name "Qi Ling Tong", or "Seven Years Old Kid". Named after his father, Zhang Jinlai's elder brother used stage name Xiao Liu Ling Tong, which means "Little Six Years Old Kid", or "Six Years Old Kid, Jr.". This elder brother was a more famous Peking Opera player than Zhang Jinlai, when he died of leukemia in 1966. Zhang Jinlai's stage name Liu Xiao Ling Tong means "Six Little Years Old Kid", which was also named after his father. And this name was constructed in an awkward way, because that the normal way to put "Jr." in a name was taken by his brother already. Before his death, Zhang Jinlai's brother told him that he would see him when he played Sun Wukong. After he died, Zhang Jinlai tried very hard to do that. He also trys to help needy people with leukimia. Zhang Jinlai became well-known due to his starring of Sun Wukong in Journey to the West 西游记 TV series in the early 1980's. He was picked by the director because of his reputation with Peking Opera. After that, he also appeared in some other movies or TV series, like "New Year Day 过年".
