Liu Ximeizi, better known as Liu Yifei, is a young Chinese actress. Her role as Wang Yuyan in the TV serial of Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils propelled her to fame.

Acting Career

Besides dramas and a movie, Liu Yifei has also starred in 2 productions based on books by acclaimed wuxia writer Jinyong.

Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils: Liu Yifei plays the role of Wang Yuyan, the cousin of Murong Fu who eventually falls in love with the prince of Dali, Duan Yu. (Liu Tao was meant to play this role at first but after 15-year-old Liu Yifei was spotted, she was given the role of Wang Yuyan and Liu Tao was cast as A Zhu.)

Chinese Paladin: Liu yifei plays Zhao Ling'er, the decendent of the ancient nu wa who was half snake half human

The Return of the Condor Heroes: After intense speculation on who would get the role of Xiaolongnü, the part was finally offered to Liu Yifei. She was backed by Jinyong, the writer of the novel the production was based on, who felt that she had all the necessary qualities to play the role of the young and innocent Xiaolongnü.

Trivia

Liu Yifei was born in Wuhan, China. She moved to USA in Spring 1998 with her mother "Liu Xiaoli" (刘晓莉), who was a famous dancer in Wuhan. Liu Yifei returned to China to pursue an acting career in June 2002.

Liu Yifei was admited by Beijing Film Academy in September 2002. She is the youngest of all students that the school ever has. She will graduate in June 2006.

Her parents divorced when she was about 7 years old. Then she lived with her mother and got the name "Liu Ximeizi" (刘茜美子). When she returned to China, she adopted the name Liu Yifei (刘亦菲).

She became very famous in 2005 as the star of the video game adaptation of TV drama "Legend of Fairy and Sword" (仙剑奇侠传).

Liu Yifei has signed on with Sony Music, and has been studying singing and dancing in Japan since August 2005.

Although the drama serials she has acted in were well-received, the movies she starred in did poorly in terms of box office takings.
