| This article is about the Britney Spears song. For the Radiohead song of the same name, see Lucky (Radiohead single). "Lucky" is the second single from Pop singer Britney Spears released from the album Oops!... I Did It Again during the third quarter of 2000. The song was primarily written and produced by Max Martin and Rami, and is about one, who despite being very "lucky" and seemingly having it all, is truly lonely on the inside. Music videoDirected by Dave Meyers in Orlando, FL, the music video for "Lucky" starts out with Britney as a sort of narrator of a play showing the life of a very famous Hollywood actress named Lucky (also played by Spears). As beautiful and rich as she is, we see her about a set as she is acting looking quite distressed. Through this scene, the narrator Spears also sits above in the 'stars', throwing down glittery sparkles.Next, we find Lucky at the Academy Awards accepting her Oscar. As she makes her way away from her screaming fans and back into her limo, she catches a glimpse of the narrator Spears in the crowd, and ends up becoming very distraught. The video ends with Lucky crying herself to sleep. Chart performanceThough not as successful as the title-track lead single from Oops!... I Did It Again, "Lucky" still achieved strong success. The song peaked at number twenty-three on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to its top twenty placement on the Hot 100 Airplay chart. However, like several previous singles released by Britney, "Lucky" did not have the sales of a regular CD single to aid it on the charts. The song also only managed to spend a short eleven weeks on the Hot 100, with only six within the top forty."Lucky" was moderately successful at Top 40 radio, making the top twenty of the Top 40 Tracks and Rhythmic Top 40, as well as top ten of the Mainstream Top 40. The single also made top ten placement in many European nations, as well as Australia, where it actually ended up selling more than the previous single. However, it was a major flop in other countries, including Canada and Brazil. "Lucky" sold a total of 203,000 in the U.K. earning a silver BPI award.
