Malaika Arora Khan is a Bollywood actress and model.

Career

When MTV India first started, Malaika was one of their most prominent VJ's. She rose from this to become an interviewer for MTV India. Then she, using connections created through this interviewing role, became the most prominent non-movie non-model female in urban India. MTV India, recognizing her star quality, and beauty, kept lacing her in prominent roles at Awards Functions and concerts telecast on the television channel. From there she expanded her career into the modeling world. From there, as the millions of teenagers she influenced advance into adulthood, she made a play to expand her career to include the acting world. However, her attempts to do so became a minor failure, which she has taken into stride and followed the demands of the filmi marketplace, and become only an item girl. Her modeling and TV careers are going strong. At one point she was romantically linked to John Abraham. Malaika has appeared in numerous ads. She can also be seen in various item numbers, or song and dance sequences, such as "Chaiyya Chaiyya" in the film Dil Se
and "Maahi Ve" in Kaante
. She tried acting as a career in Bichhoo playing a supporting role but didn't make an impact as a performer. She has since then focused on her career as a model and tv anchor. In 2005, she did another item number: "Kaal Dhamaal" in the movie Kaal

Malaika Arora married Arbaaz Khan on December 12, 1998.
