Marilyn Chambers (born Marilyn Ann Briggs, April 22, 1952, in Westport, Connecticut, USA) is an adult film actress who was catapulted to fame by the 1972 porn film Behind the Green Door
. She also starred in Insatiable
(1980).

Marilyn was the first woman in the pornographic film industry to actually make any real money and achieve some sort of a power status. She could be considered as a precursor to such modern female power figures as Jenna Jameson and Pamela Anderson.

At age eighteen she was the cover girl on the Ivory Snow soap box, where she posed holding the baby. (According to some urban legends, she was the baby.) The company quickly dropped her after they found out she had become an adult film actress.

Marilyn Chambers also had some chart success with the Disco single "Benihana" in 1976, produced by Michael Zager on the Roulette Records label.

From 1975 to 1985 she was married to Chuck Traynor who had previously been married to porn star Linda Lovelace.

In the 2004 United States presidential election, Marilyn Chambers ran for Vice President on the Personal Choice Party ticket, a quasi-libertarian party.

In 2000, Tracy Hutson played Marilyn in the Mitchell Brothers' made-for-cable biopic, Rated X
