| Mary Murphy (born January 26, 1931) was a film actress of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. The actress was born in Washington D.C. before moving to Los Angeles. Shortly out of high school the brunette was signed to appear in films for Paramount Pictures in the late 1940s. Murphy first gained fame appearing alongside actor Marlon Brando as the “good girl” that tries to reform him in The Wild One in 1954. The following year, she appeared in the Humphrey Bogart thriller The Desperate Hours as Fredric March’s daughter. Murphy appeared in a string of less successful films after that and took years off before acting again in the 1970s. In 1972 she appeared in the Steve McQueen film Junior Bonner. Murphy retired from acting by the 1980s.
