She came to the show with a solid background in sketch comedy from her Groundling days. Scheer was one of only three women on the original cast. Where as Nicole Sullivan and Debra Wilson tended to play outrageously strange and funny characters, Scheer, in contrast, tended to seek humor by playing the straight and mature motherly roles. Some of Scheer's impressions included the following: U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, Demi Moore, Susan Sarandon, Kathy Griffin, Mary Tyler Moore, Melissa Joan Hart, Ashley Olsen, Candince Bergen, Shirley McLaine and Emma Thompson. However, Scheer is most famous for her impersonations of Barbra Streisand in the MADtv spoof video "terms of Imprisonment," where she portrays Streisand with an over indulgent ego who smacks her co-star, Whitney Houston (as played by Debra Wilson) around; and for her impersonation of Gillian Anderson's Dana Scully (playing opposite David Herman as Fox Mulder) in the "XXX Files" Sketch. During season two, Scheer became the first cast member to become visibly pregnant while still performing on the show. After giving birth, Scheer continued on the MADtv for the remainder of the second season and all of the third season. Once season three of MADtv ended, Scheer was offered an opportunity too appear in season four. However, she did not to renew her contract and she decided to focus on her new found motherhood. Thus, Scheer left the show in 1998, at the end of the third season. Other television projectsAside from MADtv, Scheer has appeared in many television shows. Her credits include Reno 911!, Primetime Glick, X-Chromosome, Dropping Out and Seinfeld.
