Matthew David Lewis was born on June 27, 1989 and lives in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. He attends St Mary's Comprehensive School, Menston, and is currently studying for his A Levels. He has chosen four subjects: Psychology, theology, law, and English language. He has said that if acting doesn't work out for him, he wants something to go back to.

Matthew has been acting since he was five years old. He started off with a bunch of TV shows and then tried out for Neville Longbottom. At first, he didn't care what role he got in the Harry Potter films, but afterwards, he realized how much fun he could have with the role. He has been doing the Neville Longbottom role for five years and has said multiple times he wishes to continue all the way to the end if they let him.

Matt enjoys reading, sports, and playing video games. He is also into music and likes guitar rock. He's a big fan of the Harry Potter books and has been reading them since the age of nine.
