Max von Essen (born 11 January 1975) is an American actor.

The son of Thomas von Essen, who was New York City Fire Commissioner during the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, he was born in New York, the youngest of four children.

He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and after graduation began touring with Liza Minnelli, then toured Europe in West Side Story, then the U.S. National Tour of Chicago as Mary Sunshine. His Broadway debut was in 2000 in Jesus Christ Superstar.
