Melissa Sagemiller (born June 1, 1974 in Washington, District of Columbia) started to get a taste of performing from age 3 where she studied dance: tap, ballet, jazz and modern. Her debut was in To Kill a Mockingbird at age 9 and soon after she became a regular on local stages. From 14 though her acting skills were not at the forefront of her ambitions after being given a great modelling opportunity by Eileen Ford following meeting her in a jewellery shop. Despite the opportunity it was not long before she left this behind to take a degree in Art History at The University of Virginia.

Shortly after finishing her degree Melissa decided to return to acting full time where she studied at The Stella Adler Conservatory, NYU's Stonestreet Studio and at the Michael Howard Studio. Her professional career started after her studies here.
