Actors - Miracle Goodnight

"Miracle Goodnight" is a song from David Bowie
’s album Black Tie White Noise
, and was released as the third single from the album in October 1993.

While the previous two singles from the album, “Jump They Say
” and “Black Tie White Noise
”, covered issues such as non-conformity and legal injustice, “Miracle Goodnight” features a more unabashed recurring theme of the album – Bowie’s love for his new bride, Iman Abdulmajid
. He declared the whole album “a wedding present” for Iman, but it is arguably this song that showcases this the most. It is considered by some as Bowie’s most unconditional love song, similar to The Prettiest Star
, with none of the paranoia and desperation evident in the likes of “Word on a Wing
” or “Be My Wife
.”

"Mircale Goodnight," as a piece, was also arguably the greatest departure on the album for Bowie, with an extraordinarily light-hearted hip-hop arrangement using synthesizers to create many sounds comparable to music from children's television, and a curiously retro electric guitar sound. The song's bridge uses simple arpeggios played on synthesizer, while the same basic chord progression repeats throughout the rest of the song.

Released as a single, the song also had a creative video from the lens of Matthew Rolston featuring Bowie unmoved by a harem of beautiful women while singing the song to camera, as well as scenes of him in a jester's outfit, playing with mirrors, dressed as a mime, and even returning briefly to his fashion style as the Thin White Duke from 1976. “Miracle Goodnight” suffered the usual plethora of remixes his recent multi-format singles had featured, and would chart no higher than #40 in the UK charts.
