Monica Bedi is the companion of international terrorist Abu Salem. She was an Indian actress, and acted in a number of Bollywood films. It is said that she acted in A-list movies because of Abu Salem 'requesting' producers of movies to cast her. Their companionship is an example of the underworld-filmdom nexus in Mumbai (Bollywood).

Around 10-13 November 2005 she has been extradited to India from Portugal along with wanted criminal Abu Salem.

It is widely rumoured in the Indian media about the tie-ups between the underworld and the film industry - Bollywood. There have been killings of certain film moguls in the past. The killings have been allegedly been linked to the victim's association with the underworld.

It is not uncommon for a film personality to perform for key individuals in the underworld during an event at the latter's. There have been citings by reporters of prominent film personalities among guests at events of wanted underworld criminals.
