Monica, only 23 at the time, had just left her modeling agency and was on her way to a casting call when she was shot in the chest by an unknown assailant. Monica was assisted by a few good samaritans and was rushed to New York City's Bellevue Hospital. There, doctors dubbed Monica "The Miracle Model" as the bullet miraculously missed her vital organs and major arteries. Monica was released from Bellevue a few days later and made several high profile television appearances, including "The Early Show" and "The Montel Williams

Monica decided to take a job on the cruise ship to immerse herself in her new found calm.

There, Monica met her future boyfriend, and they now perform together in Norwegian Wind's cabaret show, with Meadows singing Broadway crowd-pleasers such as her favorite, "Trouble" from "Smokey Joe's Caf," and other tunes "Big Spender" from "Sweet Charity." Monica now has the job as the lead entertainer on the cruise ship touring the Hawaiian Islands.

Though emotionally and mentally still healing from her ordeal, Monica is ready to return to New York City to repursue her dream of becoming a Broadway actress.
