Natasha Richardson (born May 11, 1963 in London, England) is a British actress who played the title character in The Handmaid's Tale
, the 1990 film based on Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel. She won the 1998 Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her role as "Sally Bowles" in the revisionist, grungy revival of Cabaret. She also was in the 1994 film Nell
, co-starring her husband, Liam Neeson and the two-time winner of the Academy Award for Best Actress, Jodie Foster.

Richardson is the daughter of the late director Tony Richardson and actress Vanessa Redgrave, and a granddaughter of the late actors Sir Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson. Her sister is Joely Richardson, of the television show Nip/Tuck. She is the niece of actress Lynn Redgrave and actor Corin Redgrave, and cousin of Jemma Redgrave.

Her first marriage was to businessman Robert Fox. She is currently married to Northern Irish-born actor Liam Neeson. She is the mother of two sons, Micheál and Daniel Neeson, who are being raised in their father's religion, Roman Catholicism.

She became a naturalized citizen of the U.S.A. some years ago, actually before her aunt, Lynn Redgrave, did so.
