Naveen William Sidney Andrews (born January 17, 1969) is a British actor of Indian descent.

Born in London, England, of Indian origin, he is best-known for his roles in The English Patient
(1996) and as Sayid in the popular 2004 U.S. television series Lost.

Personal life

Andrews is a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. He suffered from these conditions when he lived in London, England during his early twenties, and his promising screen career nearly ended. Andrews was forced to move across the Atlantic to America to seek rehabilitation and get his life back on track. His efforts were successful, but he says that London provides painful memories of his alcohol and heroin addictions.

He is in a relationship with actress Barbara Hershey
and lives with her in Los Angeles, California. The couple separated briefly in 2005, and during the time, Andrews had a son with another woman. He and Hershey later reconciled (see ).

Andrews also has a son named Jaisal, born in 1992, from a previous relationship with his former teacher, Geraldine Feakins (see ).

He also plays guitar and sings.

His first name is relatively common in India and is often also spelled Navin.
