| Nikolai Constantinovich Cherkasov (Russian Николай Константинович Черкасов), (July 27, 1903 – September 14, 1966), was a Soviet actor. From 1919 he was mime-artist in the Petrograd's Maryinsky Theatre, Bolshoi Theatre and others. After finishing institute of the stage arts in 1926, he started to act in Theater of the Young Spectators in Leningrad. He was favoured by Stalin and played title roles in Sergei Eisenstein's movies Alexander Nevsky and Ivan the Terrible. In 1947 comedy Springtime he appeared alongside other icons of Stalinist cinema, Lyubov Orlova and Faina Ranevskaya. For the role of Alexander Popov in the film Alexander Popov he received in 1951 the Stalin Prize of 2nd degree.
