Paul Blackthorne (March 5, 1969) is a British actor with simultaneous film, tv and radio careers. Paul first broke into acting via television commercials in England. His breakthrough commercial came as The Grim Reaper for Virgin Atlantic. Numerous radio commercials followed.

Paul broke into television acting with roles on Peak Practice and Holby City before coming across the pond to the US. His most famous US television role was in season 3 of 24 as Stephen Saunders, a biological terrorist. In November 2005 it was announced that Paul took the lead role of Harry Dresden in The Dresden Files.

Paul stands 6' 5ΒΌ" (1.96 m) tall, which makes him ideally suited for the part (in the books, Harry Dresden is 6' 7").

Paul is also a noted photographer and has had his photography exhibited.

Career

On the big screen he starred as Captain Andrew Russell in Oscar Nominated Lagaan
, Mindcrime and the indie feature length film, Four Corners of Suburbia.

Additional indie film credits include Bret Easton Ellis's "This is Not an Exit", and a starring role in the British movie, "The Truth Game". Paul's most recent indie film role is "Silence" (2006; US).

On television, he was Doctor Matt Slingerland of Presidio Med and made notable appearances as Guy Morton in the British telly series Holby City, Liam MacGregor in "Peak Practice", Doctor Jeremy Lawson in NBC's ER and terrorist Stephen Saunders on 24. He also made an appearance on "Medium" in two roles (one uncredited as Henry Stoller, Senior).
