| Peter Capaldi (born 1958) in Glasgow is a Scottish actor and director. He is currently best known for playing Malcolm Tucker in the BBC sitcom The Thick of It, written by fellow Scottish-Italian, Armando Iannucci. This character is reportedly based on the New Labour spin doctor Alastair Campbell. As an actor he has appeared in over 40 films and TV series since his breakthrough role as Oldsen in Local Hero. In 1993 he won an Oscar for Best Short Film for "Frank Kafka's It's A Wonderful Life".
