Peter Corey is the writer of a series of books whose titles always begin with Coping With... These books are targeted and younger people like teenagers because they are humourous. He has written other books but they are serious. He has also written scripts for many television programs and he has played roles on dramas and soaps.

He lives with his wife and five children in Margate in Kent, UK. His wife is a teacher.

Books

His most successful book series is Coping With..., written mostly for secondary school age (11-16) children. They are designed to be useful, containing tips on how to 'Cope', however, the books are also very humourous in nature. Two distinguishing features of these books are: a complete A-Z of subjects (often with 'cheat' subjects for letters Q,V,X,Y and Z such as 'Zee end bit'), and heavy use of humourous footnotes, often with funny 'background information' about a subject.

His other books include 'The A-Z of Absolutely Everything', 'The Life and Times of Cristóbal Colón; Columbus Exposed' (a semi-accurate biography of Christopher Columbus, 1992, ISBN 0590551086), 'Palace Hill the Book' (A book version of the Palace Hill TV series) and 'The Number 73 annual' (An annual of a TV series, 1985), which was recalled due to containing very high numbers of spelling errors.

Work On Camera

Peter Corey has starred in dramas and soaps. He was in Brookside for two years playing "Freddie Spence", a man who did not like the police and was outraged when his daughter, Diana, married a policeman. He was in EastEnders for six months playing "Vic the Crusher", who was an extortionist. Peter also played Mr. Prout in One Foot in the Grave.

Work On Stage

He has written over 40 scripts and stage plays. He started writing 30 years ago and has managed to write 15 books on top of the plays. One of his plays is an adaptation of Spike Milligan
's Badjelly the Witch.

Awards

His Coping With... series has been very successful and he has spawned eight TV programmes. These programmes have helped him win four BAFTA , the Prix Jeunesse, a Writers Guild award and a Bronze Apple.
