| Polly Dean Holliday (born July 2, 1937 in Jasper, Alabama) is an American actress, best known for her role as Florence Jean "Flo" Castleberry on the television series Alice, and later on her own show, Flo. While on the show, she became very popular and coined the catch phrase "Kiss my grits!" After four years on Alice (from 1976 to 1980), she moved to her own spin-off show, with the explanation that Flo moved back home to Texas from Arizona. The show was not successful and ended in 1981. Holliday also made appearances on television shows such as The Golden Girls (as Rose's blind sister Lily) and Home Improvement (as Tim's mother-in-law), and in movies such as Gremlins and Mrs. Doubtfire.
