"Quicksand" is a song written by David Bowie in 1971 for the album Hunky Dory
. This ballad features acoustic guitars and strings. Producer Ken Scott had just engineered George Harrison’s album "All Things Must Pass" and he attempted to recreate that album’s gutsy wall of aggressive acoustic guitars, with up to seven tracks of acoustic guitar being deployed in the more aggressive sections.

Other releases

It was released as the B-Side of the single "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide" in April 1974.
RCA released a picture disc set called Life Time which this song was a part of.
The demo version of the song was released as a bonus track on the Rykodisc release of Hunky Dory
in 1990.
