RABEAH GHAFFARI is an Iranian-born filmmaker, writer, film editor and actress. As an actress, she has performed at many New York theaters including La MaMa, ETC, Theatre 22, The Judith Anderson and The Kitchen. Most recently she has played a lead role in "Windows", a film by Shoja Azari (Competition selection of the Tribeca Film Festival 2006). As a filmmaker she has made a feature length documentary, "The Troupe", about a Ta'ziyeh troupe's journey from Iran to NYC to perform at the Lincoln Center Summer Festival which featured Tony Kushner and was executive produced by Shirin Neshat. "The Troupe" screened at Brown University (2005 commencement weekend with Nobel Laureate Shirin Ebadi), University of Michigan and Cornell University. She has also made a short film called "Ritual" which is currently in post-production. As a film editor she has edited a feature length documentary by filmmaker, Zohreh Shayesteh, called "Inside Out" (Competition selection of the Tribeca Film Festival 2006), a film about transsexuals in Iran and is currently editing Ms. Shayesteh's narrative feature film. She is also editing a feature documentary on Iranian youth culture called "Nobody’s Enemy" directed by Neda Sarmast. As a writer, Miss Ghaffari has written a screenplay, "Neyshapoor", which was an official selection of the IFP/Emerging Narrative 2005. She was also a participant of the Berlin Film Festival’s Talent Campus 2005. She is currently finishing her first novel, "Caspian’s Sea".
