She has been a lead cast in many films since then, a busy schedule typical of the prolific Bollywood movie industry. was actually based on the story of When Harry Met Sally...
, where she essayed the role of Meg Ryan
. She had a strong portrayal of a Pakistani lawyer in Veer-Zaara
, which was both a commercial hit, and favorably received at the Berlin Film Festival
(2005).

Ms. Mukerji's career has gone into high gear in the last few years. In 2005 she appeared in the high-profile films Black
, Bunty aur Babli and The Rising. Paheli
, while only moderately successful, was India's official entry
to the 2006 Oscars.

She is an active performer in many stage shows and participated in Shahrukh Khan
's world tour stage show, Temptations 2004 with an all-star lineup.

In February 2005, Filmfare Magazine published her face among the "Ten Most Powerful Names of Bollywood" as the only woman. She was ranked eighth on the Power List in February 2006, configuring the highest ranking for a woman. Rani was also ranked number one in the Filmfare Top Ten Actresses' listing both years, 2004 and 2005.
