Reginald VelJohnson (born August 16, 1952 in Raleigh, North Carolina) is an American film and television actor who is most famous for his roles as Carl Winslow on the sitcom Family Matters and as the police officer Sgt. Al Powell in the hit film Die Hard
(1988) and the hit sequel Die Hard 2: Die Harder
(1990). Reginald currently has homes in Los Angeles, California and Raleigh, North Carolina.

Reginald has done mostly theater work since the end of Family Matters besides making a few guest appearances on shows. He has also written a critically acclaimed series of shorts called Division Street. One of them, called Sunday Evening Haircut, was made into a short in 2005. Reginald starred in it alongside Kiki Shepard. Reginald is known for being a powerful and prolific actor.

Reginald also has made guest appearances in several TV shows, including The Equalizer, Diagnosis Murder, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and That's So Raven. He frequently plays police officers.

In the comic book Invincible, Mark Grayson attended Reginald VelJohnson High School. A new rock band based in Garden City, New York has named themselves The Carl Winslow Experience, after the character Reginald played.
