Rex Smith (born September 19 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida) was the original Danny Zuko in the Broadway production of Grease. He starred as Frederick in the New York Shakespeare Festival's Central Park production of The Pirates of Penzance alongside Kevin Kline as the Pirate King and Linda Ronstadt as Mabel. All three reprised their roles for the 1983 film adaptation. He also starred as Fred Graham/Petruchio in the 2001-2002 National Broadway Tour of Kiss Me, Kate
. He recently took over the role of Pirate King in the Bellflower Civic Auditorium's 2005 production of Pirates.

Rex has released several CDs, including the platinum album Sooner or Later containing the hit single "You Take My Breath Away". His last album was entitled SIMPLY...REX.

He now sells real estate.
