| Roscoe Lee Browne (born 2 May 1925 in Woodbury, New Jersey) is a prolific American character actor (Topaz) and voiceover actor of film, theatre and television. He is noted for the timbre of his bass voice and because of this he is often typecast as a mild-mannered erudite authority figure. He was originally an athlete, setting a record for an 800-meter run in 1951. After an injury brought an end to his athletic career, he turned to acting. He had a recurring role on Soap as the cynical butler Saunders, replacing Robert Guillaume's character of Benson. Among his recent roles are the narrator in the film Babe and its sequel, and an appearance in August Wilson's Two Trains Running.
