Rory Conroy (sometimes credited as Ruadhri Conroy) was born in Dublin on the 27th of July 1979. He spent a lot of his childhood attending acting and drama classes. His big break came when he landed the part of Chris Aherne in Irish soap opera, Fair City. Chris Aherne was a recovering alcoholic who suffered a stroke and subsequently ended up in a coma for six months. During this era Conroy was noted for stealing every scene he was in. His fellow cast members were often found praising him in public. Pretty befitting for a man dubbed the "Fair City Mainstay".

Rory has recently been linked with RTE presenter Laura Woods. The pair met on The Cafe, an RTE2 television program.

Trivia

A keen soccer player, he was part of an all Ireland championship winning team from the Irish Revenue Service while working as a public servant and playing minor theater roles on the side. First theater performance was actually in ballet at the age of eight when he starred as Albrecht in 'Gisele' in a Dublin ballet company's children's Christmas special. Has a keen interest in economics. Though widely traveled (and well known in Ireland) he has traditionally shunned the society pages of the media.

During the week of 6th of March Rory was on RTE show "The Cafe", where he told a funny story of not making the Oscars due to problems with his passport. His passport was cleared as ok, but he was in police custody for a few days.
