Actors - Rui En

Rui En (Chinese: 芮恩, Pinyin: Ruì'ēn; Full name: Lu Rui En, 卢瑞恩) is a singer-actress based in Singapore. She was born on January 29, 1981. Called a feisty girl by many, she is the second-generation to the "Queen of Feistiness", actress Li Lin.

Rui En was talent-spotted while doing a SingTel advertisement, as "the running girl". She was then offered a general management contract by Artiste Networks, a section of Hype Records, which is headed by singer/songwriter Ken Lim and is known for retaining only the best artistes with the most potential on its tenure.

She has an increasing pool of supporters in Singapore. Rui Bu Ke Dang (芮不可挡) is one of them. The name was developed from the chinese idiom 锐不可挡, which has the same hanyu pinyin as the fan group's name. In this context, the group's name is taken to mean: Rui En cannot be stopped.

Rui En will appear in a concert to raise funds for the Community Chest of Singapore on March 26, 2006, alongside Taufik Batisah, Sylvester Sim and Jeanette Aw
. This is one of the very rare times that she will be appearing in public, as Hype Records manages their artistes very strictly. Fans of Rui En eagerly await this day, to be able to catch a glimpse of their favourite singer-actress.

Education

She was from Singapore Chinese Girls' School, and did well enough in her O levels to be accepted into Raffles Junior College, an elite Junior College in Singapore. She then graduated and moved on to finish a Banking and Finance degree in Nanyang Technological University, despite her hectic filming schedule.

Achievements

In 2002, she released her debut album, Rui En Vol. 1, which contained the hit single Shi Shui (是谁).

She has also acted in many television dramas on MediaCorp Channel 5 and Channel 8, which include Chemistry, My Mighty In-Laws, You Are The One, Beyond The aXis of Truth 2, A Promise For Tomorrow, and is currently filming a new show loosely translated as Love At Zero Degrees, which is slated to air in July 2006. Rui En has also hosted shows like Gotcha! 2.

During the annual Star Awards (Singapore's awards for outstanding performances in the TV industry) in 2004, she narrowly lost the "Most Popular Newcomer" to actress Joanne Peh, but bounced back with a Top Ten Most Popular Female Artiste trophy in Star Awards 2005, a highly sought-after trophy for Singapore artistes.

Rui En was also invited to sing the National Day Theme Song for the National Day Parade in 2005, alongside Singapore Idol champion Taufik Batisah. They were both chosen for their youthful vibe and growing popularity, to signify Singapore's youthfulness.
