Actors - Sherilyn Fenn

Sherilyn Fenn (b. Sheryl Ann Fenn Feb. 1, 1965, Detroit, Michigan) is an American actress, best known for playing Audrey Horne on the cult TV series Twin Peaks and for her roles in Of Mice and Men
, Boxing Helena
and Rude Awakening.

Early life

Born into a family of musicians (her mother is keyboard player Arlene Quatro, her aunt is singer Suzi Quatro
and her grandfather Art Quatro is a jazz musician), of Italian, Irish, French and Hungarian descent, Fenn traveled a lot with her mother and two older brothers before the family settled in Los Angeles when she was 17. She didn't want to start with a new school again and began studying at the Lee Strasberg
Theatre Institute. Despite a demure personality ("if there's a lot of people in a set, I get nervous") she chose to start an acting career.

Acting career

Early career

The sultry, feline, versatile Sherilyn Fenn began her career with a number of B-movie
s including teen-fantasy movie The Wraith
(1986), erotic Two Moon Junction
(1988, directed by 9½ Weeks
writer/producer Zalman King) or black comedy/film noir
Desire and Hell at Sunset Motel (1990, as a seductive femme fatale, opposite Whip Hubley and David Hewlett
). She had a small but memorable part in the 1985 cult teen-comedy
Just One of the Guys
in which she tries to seduce disguised-as-a-man Joyce Hyser
.

Rise to fame - Twin Peaks

Fenn won her most outstanding role and made an indelible impression on the public when she was cast by David Lynch
and Mark Frost as the sexy, dreamy Audrey Horne, toxic beauty from critically acclaimed TV series
Twin Peaks. The series ran from 1990 to 1991, and the character of Audrey was one of the most popular with fans, particularly her unrequited love for FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (played by Kyle MacLachlan
). In the show's second season, when the idea of getting the characters together was given up, Audrey was paired with other characters like Bobby Briggs (Dana Ashbrook
) and John Justice Wheeler (Billy Zane
).

Shortly after shooting
Twin Peaks
pilot episode, David Lynch
gave her a small but impressive part in Wild at Heart
(Golden Palm at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival
) as a girl injured in a car wreck, walking with a windshield through her head on Nicolas Cage
and Laura Dern
's way.

After Twin Peaks, Fenn chose to focus on widening her range of roles. She didn't want to star in the Audrey-centric spin-off series that was offered to her, and unlike most of the cast, chose not to return for the prequel movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (she was then shooting Of Mice and Men).

Film roles

After two nominations (Emmy and Golden Globe) and a pictorial in Playboy magazine, Fenn was propelled to stardom and became a major sex symbol. Like Audrey, Sherilyn knows what she wants, and she was determined not to be categorized. Fenn preferred to turn to the independent world and imposed her old Hollywood stunning beauty (with her lily-white skin, vertiginous boomerang eyebrows, beauty mark next to her left eye, topaz eyes and wavy brown hair) with many varied roles.
