Sheryl Cruz is a popular actress and was once a teen icon in the Philippines.

Personal Background

She was born on April 5, 1974 in Makati City. Her parents are Ricky Belmonte and Rosemarie Sonora. She is the niece of Filipino actress Susan Roces, widow of the 'King of the Filipino Movies' and presidential candidate Fernando Poe Jr. She's the cousin of Geneva Cruz and Sunshine Cruz. She has a daughter named Ashley.

Acting Career

Cruz started her career at a very young age, she won the FAMAS best child actress for her portrayal in the movie "Mga Basang Sisiw" opposite Janice de Belen, Che Che and the late Julie Vega. She also won best child actress for the movie "Roman Rapido" opposite his uncle Fernando Poe Jr. Later on, while growing up, Regal Films contracted her, Kristina Paner and Manilyn Reynes to form the sensational "TRIPLETS". At that time, channel seven, under the management of german moreno, established the youth oriented tv show "That's Entertainment", where she belonged to the wednesday group. Her movie career was blossomed with one of Philippine cinema's most unforgetable loveteam, the Romnick Sarmenta-Sheryl Cruz loveteam. Sheryl then signed a contract with Seiko Films. Sheryl was named during her teen years as "The Princess of the Philippine Movie".

She then married and moved to the States, coming back to Manila only a few times. However, Sheryl decided to return home, and starred in her comeback movie, Mano Po 3: My Love.
