Steven Shill is an American actor and television director who is probably best known for his work on several programs produced by HBO which include The Wire, Rome, Carnivàle and Deadwood. Prior to directing for mainly HBO programs, Shill also directed on many network programs as well which include all 3 shows of the Law & Order series, Night Stalker, Invasion, Commander in Chief and Dragnet.

Shill will be directing upcoming episodes of The Sopranos
and Big Love both set to air in 2006.

Shill has also had acting roles in The Last Temptation of Christ
, The Missing Reel, Kinsey and Being Human
.

As a screenwriter, Shill has written one episode of Deadwood and Ted and Alice for which he provided the idea for the film.
