Taran Noah Smith (born on April 8, 1984 in San Francisco, California) is an American actor, most notably played Mark Jason Taylor on the show Home Improvement. At 18 he gained control of his US$1.5 million trust fund, which he accused his parents of squandering. The former child star is married to Heidi Van Pelt, who is 15 years his senior. In October 2005, Taran and his wife became the proud parents of Nolan Eric Smith.

While performing on Home Improvement he was often criticized for his lack of acting skills although in the later seasons he became a small role character.
