| Terry Sweeney (born March 23, 1960) is an American writer, comedian and actor who appeared as a regular cast member of Saturday Night Live (SNL) during that program's 1985-86 season. He also wrote comedy sketches for SNL during the 1980s and has since written for the TV series MADtv and Tripping the Rift, among a few others. He has been openly gay at least since appearing on SNL in the mid-1980s. During his season on that program, he was perhaps best known for his comic portrayal of then-First Lady Nancy Reagan. When hosting the show in 1985, former SNL cast member Chevy Chase suggested that a perfect skit for Sweeney would be one in which Sweeney plays an AIDS victim who gets weighed every week.
