Euphemia L. Sumpter Tika Sumpter (born June 20, 1977 in Starlight, Texas) is an American actress.

Career

She began her career as a cocktail waitress at the New York club Life. Her boss Steven Lewis encoraged her to pursue acting. He arranged a meeting for Tika at a boutique modeling agency. They didn't think she was tall enough so they turned her down. She eventually signed with her current agency Cunningham, Escott, Slevin and Dipene (CESD). Tika can be seen in national commercails such as Hewlett Packard, Cascade, Liz Claiborne's Curve fragrances, and Lowe's Home Improvement. Tika was the co-host of Best Friend's Date, a show on the N network. She currently portrays Layla Willaimson on the soap opera, One Life To Live. Tika is part of a R&B and Hip Hop group called Twise. The group consists of Tika, who does the singing part, and Precise, who raps. They a track called Uh-Uhh that aired all New York radio stations. It was voted number one on a Las Vegas radio station by listeners. Twise is currently back in the recording studio.
