The Right Honourable Timothy Charles Robert Noel Bentinck, 12th Earl of Portland (born 1 June 1953) is a British actor and inventor, usually known as Tim Bentinck.

Bentinck was born on a sheep station in Tasmania. Having moved to England as a two-year-old, he lived in the Hertfordshire town of Berkhamsted, attending the local prep school, then Harrow. He studied at the University of East Anglia where he was awarded a BA in the History of Art, but (by his own admission) spent most of his time in the drama society.

Has been an actor since 1982, his best-known role being that of David Archer in the BBC Radio 4 series The Archers. Has been employed as a voice-over artist and has many TV, film, theatrical credits and also voiced the "mind the gap" warnings on the Piccadilly Line of the London Underground. He is an inveterate inventor and has several patents in his name.

In 1997, Bentinck succeeded his father to become the 12th Earl of Portland. Except for an acting tour of the United States, Lord Portland has not used his title and, despite taking his seat, did not speak in the unreformed House of Lords before losing the right to sit following the passage of the House of Lords Act 1999. He married Judith Emerson in 1979; they have two sons, the heir William Bentinck, Viscount Woodstock and Jasper, The Honourable Jasper Bentinck.
