Tom Atkins (born November 13 ,1935 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), USA is an American actor who has appeared in several films. Atkins has often portrayed police officers, and he appears frequently in John Carpenter movies. He is well known for his role in the 1982 horror film Halloween III: Season of the Witch
, in which he played the role of Dr. Dan Challis; for his role in the 1986 cult horror film Night of the Creeps
, as Detective Ray Cameron; and for his role in the 1987 hit film Lethal Weapon
as Michael Hunsaker. Atkins played Commander Alex Diehl in The Rockford Files television series in the 1970's and reprised this role for the Rockford Files made-for-televison movies in the 1990's.

Atkins has made a number of guest appearances on tv shows, including Baretta, The Fall Guy, Xena: Warrior Princess, and Walker, Texas Ranger.
