| Soprano Victoria Clark won the Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical in 2005 for her performance in Adam Guettel's The Light in the Piazza. Her work was universally praised by the major critics, and many considered her a shoo-in for the award. Her previous work includes the Broadway musicals Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Cabaret, Urinetown, Titanic and A Grand Night For Singing. Victoria Clark attended Yale University, where, at the age of eighteen, she sang the difficult role of Mabel in Gilbert & Sullivan's operetta The Pirates of Penzance. She also sang the title role of Gilbert & Sullivan's Patience, and directed a production of Ruddygore for the Yale Gilbert & Sullivan Society. Victoria Clark grew up in Texas.
