| "Weeping Wall" is an instrumental piece by David Bowie from his album Low, released in 1977. This piece is meant to evoke the same emotions which the Berlin Wall evoked in Bowie, being a portrait piece like its companions on the b-side of Low. The principal melody is an adaption of the song "Scarborough Fair", and like Scarborough Fair, the piece is meant to invoke an emotion of misery and reminscence into a better past. Bowie plays all instruments on the recording, the only solo track on the album, thus the piece features him playing several percussion instruments, synthesizers, and featuring his own voice in an eerie chorus. It uses a dynamic time meter, alternating in order between 3/4, 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4. Its minimalistic rhythm has been seen as bearing the influence of composer Philip Glass, who would adapt some of the music from Bowie's album for his Low Symphony in 1992. Contrary to popular rumour, the piece was not originally intended for use in the soundtrack to The Man Who Fell to Earth.
