Whitney is the second album by American R&B singer Whitney Houston
, released in 1987 (see 1987 in music).

The album became the first album by a female artist ever to debut at #1, and produced a then-record-equalling 4 #1 singles from one album (though this was broken by Michael Jackson
in 1988). The album still holds the record for a female with the most #1 songs from one album (though tied with Paula Abdul's 1989 debut Forever Your Girl, Janet Jackson
's 1989 album Rhythm Nation 1814 and Mariah Carey
's 1990 debut album.
