"Wild Eyed Boy from Freecloud" is a song written by David Bowie in 1969 for the album Space Oddity
. The song is a succinct, poetic and observational with full orchestral arrangement. It features the debut on a Bowie record of Mick Ronson, who at the mixing stage added a lead guitar lick and some handclaps during the middle eight.

It also appeared on the Japanese compilation The Best of David Bowie from 1974.

Other versions

A different version (stripped down to guitar and cello) was released as the B-side of the singles "Space Oddity
" and "Ragazzo Solo, Ragazza Sola
" in 1969. This version later appeared in the Sound + Vision box set.

Bowie played this song at "Sound of the 70s" with Andy Ferris March 25th, 1970. The show was broadcast on April 4th and in 2000 released on Bowie at the Beeb.

A live version recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon, London, July 3 1973 was released on Ziggy Stardust - The Motion Picture. The song was played as a part of a medley with "Oh! You Pretty Things
" and "All the Young Dudes
".
