William Horace Marshall (19 August 1924 – 11 June 2003), was best known for his career as an African American actor, but was also a director and opera singer. His career spanned from 1952 through 1996. He was born in Gary, Indiana. He lived north of Hanson Dam in Pacoima, California.

Marshall died from complications arising from Alzheimer's disease. He had a commanding height of 6 ft 5 inches. He had a deep bass voice reminiscent of that of James Earl Jones.

In some of his films, he was credited as Bill Marshall.

Although trained as a classical actor, and having performed in Shakespeare plays many times on the stage, Marshall is best known for his title role in Blacula
, a vampire spoof, its sequel Scream Blacula Scream, and in a number of 1950s Tarzan films in which he played tribal chiefs, including the film Demetrius & The Gladiators. Marshall also played the King of Cartoons on Pee Wee's Playhouse during the 1980s. Marshall is also well-remembered by television viewers in his role as Dr. Richard Daystrom on the original Star Trek in the episode "The Ultimate Computer" and Thomas Bowers, the travelling opera singer on Bonanza.

William Marshall is survived by four children: Tariq Marshall, his youngest son, Gina Loring, his daughter, Malcolm Juarez Marshall, and Claude Marshall.
