| William Edward Donovan (October 13 1876 – December 9 1923), nicknamed "Wild Bill", was an American pitcher and manager in Major League Baseball, primarily with the Detroit Tigers. His 1907 season, in which he went 25-4, was one of the many reasons the Tigers won their first World Series berth. Donovan's .862 won-loss percentage that year is still the franchise's best single-season mark. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, he died in Forsyth, New York in a train wreck while traveling to Chicago, Illinois.
