Bobby Hoying was born in St. Henry, Ohio on September 20, 1972. He played American football professionally as a quarterback in the NFL. Growing up in Ohio Hoying attended Ohio State, eventually being a late round draft pick by the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles saw Hoying as the quarterback of the future. Hoying first started off well in 1997 taking over the starting role at midseason and threw 11 touch down passes. He won a memorable 44-42 shootout win over Boomer Esiason and the Cincinnati Bengals. But the following year would post complete disaster for Hoying as he was benched midseason after not winning a single game as a starter. He did not throw one TD pass and he threw 9 picks. That was the miserable 3-13 season that led to the firing of Ray Rhodes. The Eagles would hire Andy Reid, draft Donovan McNabb and Reid sent Hoying packing. Hoying ended up joining the Oakland Raiders but never could regain his confidence after that miserable experience. He ended up out of football in 2001 and now he is retired.
