Charles Brandon Inge (born May 19, 1977, in Lynchburg, Virginia) is a catcher and third baseman playing for the Detroit Tigers. Inge is 180 cm tall (5 ft 11 in), and weighs 88 kg (195 lb). Inge bats from the right side, and also throws with his right hand. For college Brandon attended the Virginia Commonwealth University, where he was a relief pitcher. He was drafted in 1998 by the Detroit Tigers in the second round. Initially instructed by the team to become a catcher, Inge spent his first two seasons at the position, but struggled to hit over .200, often paying more attention on calling the game and not on offense. After the Tigers signed free-agent Pudge Rodriguez for the 2004 season, Inge was moved to third base, where started 159 games with improved hitting.
